Join the BrightSide Board of Directors
BrightSide Produce is increasing access to fresh produce in underserved communities across the Twin Cities. We’re looking for passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors and help guide our mission, build our impact, and strengthen our organizational sustainability.
If you believe access to affordable healthy food is a right—not a privilege—we’d love to hear from you.
Is This You?
Before you fill out our short interest form, here are three non-negotiables we ask all potential board members to align with:
-
You approach food access with a public health mindset.
-
You’re okay with conventional (non-organic) produce if it means more people gain access to more affordable produce.
-
You believe access to healthy food should be a basic human right.
What We’re Looking For
We’re building a board that reflects the strengths and diversity of the communities we serve. We’re especially interested in candidates with experience in:
-
Fundraising and development
-
Finance and accounting
-
Community organizing or lived experience with food insecurity
-
Strategic planning or nonprofit governance
-
Marketing, communications, or law
We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and identities.
Board Expectations
-
Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person)
-
Serve on at least one committee or working group
-
Be an ambassador for BrightSide in your networks
-
Term length: 2 years (renewable)
-
No set give/get, but all members are expected to contribute in a meaningful way.
Why Join BrightSide?
You’ll join a small, collaborative nonprofit that’s punching above its weight. You’ll help shape a model that’s nationally recognized and truly unique—blending entrepreneurship, public health, and food justice—and you’ll work alongside people who care deeply about our local food system.
